Hi,

My name’s Lorna Crystal and I live in the suburbs of West Yorkshire with my hubby Andrew, son Jack and new puppy Jasper. We live within a few minutes drive of supermarkets, town centers and shopping centers which makes life easier, but can access lovely walks straight from our door.

We live in a semi on a cul-de-sac within 2 minutes walking distance of the junior school and within 5 minutes drive to work but despite living in a sub-urban area we are lucky in that our garden backs onto a railway embankment ensuring we have a steady stream of wildlife passing through the garden.

The site was first created in 2008 and our aim is to encourage people to take an interest in the wildlife around them and help them find the right tools to enjoy it. I think it’s very important that we try and instill a sense of wonder about the natural world in children, after all they are the ones that will be in charge of looking after it in years to come.

Although we both grew up in West Yorkshire and have returned to live here we have also traveled widely both within the UK and abroad. For several months we traveled around Scandinavia and wrote articles on wildlife and traveling in general for a popular Motorhome magazine. We then spent 12 months in the Scottish borders living in the lodge house on a country estate and undertaking volunteer work for the Tweed Valley Osprey Project and also The National Trust Scotland as well as the grounds of a privately owned country estate.

Now-a-days I create websites for a living and Andrew is a project manager.

As well as a love of wildlife and nature, our son Jack, has also encouraged us to take an interest in farming. In August 2014 we signed a tenancy on a couple of acres of land. At the moment we have 22 chickens and 2 Kune Kune pigs (Apple & Apricot) but once the clocks go forward and the days get longer we will be increasing our stock.

I am in the process of creating a site to blog about this venture as well. As it was Jack’s idea to get land and animals the website will be : http://farmerjack.org.uk/

I hope you will find some useful articles and blogs on the site!

Just so that you are aware :

GB Wildlife is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk

This means that if you click on one of the links on our site and then buy a product from Amazon (not necessarily the one you clicked on) we will earn a small percentage. This doesn’t affect your purchase at all. You will still be purchasing direct from Amazon and will deal with them/ the seller for any returns/ questions etc. It also will not affect the price you pay. We don’t make a living from this money,we don’t even make spending money, but at the moment every few months it will buy us a coffee!!
