Badgers have caused chaos in Cambridgeshire by undermining the High Street in Croydon, near Royston.
The High Street was closed by highway engineers after badgers burrowed underneath leaving just a thin surface layer that could have caved in under the pressure of vehicles.
The badgers cannot be moved until September so as to cause minimum disturbance to them but this may result in disaster for local businesses.
The local pub, the Queen Adelaide has lost the majority of its business due the road closure. Although there is a diversion in place it goes past many other pubs and has resulted in the Queen Adelaide missing out. The landlady, Michelle Hunter, fears that if the road is closed until September it will be too late for her business and she will lose her business altogether.
