UPDATED 16/05/08: A few elusive bugs had indeed remained, in what is a very complex search system, though these have now been taken care of. Sites have begun to be added though the details of the sites are yet to be filled in. We also have thousands of events to add. We are working through this as fast as time and resources allow and please keep checking the Search page for wildlife information near you. Much of the content has now been updated and we are working on the few outstanding pieces. New content includes the full set of This Month articles, and a new 2 part How to... article on photographing garden birds. Some of the front page photos have also being altered.

This week is a big week for us and sees the launch of the completed version of the site!
Due to these changes the site may be offline for upto a couple of hours today – it should only be for a few minutes but there is always the danger of phantom glitches!
As a general note, one difference that you will notice is that site content is updated much more frequently, once we have caught up. Perhaps our most underestimated area was that of working with our developers and testing site functionality, particularly with the Search facilities (though I am sure that despite rigorous testing we will still hit the odd bug as usage increases - any problems, please let us know.)
The most important and dramatic change is that our Search page will now be fully operational. We will be adding listings on an hourly basis and have a backlog of several hundred sites and thousands of events to add. We hope to be very close to adding all these by the middle of the week so please keep checking for what is going on in your area. You will hopefully be amazed at just how much there is!
Having said that we should perhaps put a reality check in here – we are a new site and are still in the early stages on compiling and collecting data, not to mention finding new sites and local groups. If you are involved with an organisation, private site or group please get in touch with us to add you details via the Contact Us page. The important thing is that people do keep coming back and checking as we hope to add many many more listing during the next few weeks!
Other changes are:
We have added a new area for ‘Schools and Groups’ this will be very under populated for the moment until we have caught up with our backlog. However, we are very keen to get as many people involved with this area as possible. If you feel you can contribute in any way to this area please get in touch with us via admin@gbwildlife.co.uk. We are intending that this area become a great resource for schools and groups as we are all too aware of the need to get children back into wildlife and nature!
The page text will become darker, apologies to those who have had difficulty reading any of the content.
The homepage address will change to a much shorter version (of particular note to anyone who has bookmarked it!)
Overdue articles for 'How to...', This Month to name but a few will be published by the end of the week.
There will also lots of smaller changes that have been implemented in the last few weeks, and many niggles and bugs ironed out.
Thank you all for your patience over the last month and we hope that the site can now truly begin to live up to expectations!
Regards
Lorna and Andrew.
