Brief: Write an article concerning human interaction with wildlife or the environment in Britain.
This topic gives you plenty of scope. You can choose to focus on the negative or positive impact we have on our surroundings or how nature has affected you personally. The possibilities are endless.
The article must be 750-1500 words in length
The Prizes
We will choose two winners, one from the 11-16 year olds category and one from the over 16 category.
The prizes will be £50 of book vouchers and a donation of £50 per winner to a wildlife/ conservation charity of their choice.
The winning articles will also be published on the website.
How to enter
Send your submission to competitions@gbwildlife.co.uk no later than noon on Friday 25th July 2008.
Entries must be submitted in a word document (or RTF formatted document) attached to the email.
State your full name, age, address and contact telephone number.
IMPORTANT: If you are under 16 you must have received your parents permission to enter, by entering you are agreeing that this condition has been met.
Competition Rules
- The competition deadline is Friday 27th June 2008 .
- Winners will be notified by 31st August 2008 .
- Only one entry per person.
- By entering the competition participants under the age of 16 must have received a parent or guardian's permission. Before any prize can be claimed we will need to clarify this.
- Unpublished writers only. 'Unpublished' means never having been paid for any piece of writing which has appeared in print or on the internet.
- The essay must be between 750 and 1500 words long.
- Your entry must not have been entered in any other competition anywhere in the world, or have previously been published.
- The article must be the original work of the entrant who must be the sole copyright holder.
- The writers of the two winning essays agree, by entering the competition, that G. B. Wildlife Ltd shall have the right to publish, distribute and syndicate the essays whether in print, electronic, online or any other medium, on any website and in any database, archive or library, on- or off-line, and in any media.
- Once the winners are announced, entrants other than the winners can use their pieces in whatever way they choose.
- The judges' opinion is final. No correspondence will be entered into concerning the final choice of winners.
- All entries must be received by noon on the closing date (27.06.08)
- All entrants must state their full name, age, address and contact telephone number on entries.
- G. B. Wildlife Ltd take no responsibility for entries that do not reach us.
- All entries must be submitted via email as a WORD (or RTF) attachment. We will not accept entries through the post.
